Emre Can catches up with friends after Liverpool lose to Newcastle

Emre can spent his time off returning to his native Germany to catch up with a friend over the weekend.

Liverpool succumbed to a defeat at the hands of Newcastle as Joe Allen started in midfield in the absence of the suspended Germany international.

Can was ruled out for the weekend encounter after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the League Cup clash with Southampton.

Liverpool were defeated by a 2-0 scoreline in the 21-year-old’s absence.

An own-goal from Skrtel and a classy finish from Wijnaldum gave Newcastle all three points on the day. The Reds were looking to continue their run of form under Jurgen Klopp when they traveled to St James’ Park.

Can has played as a defensive midfielder, central midfielder and centre-back already this season but since the appointment of Klopp he has been cemented in midfield.

Emre Can has scored one goal and provided one assist in 21 appearances for Liverpool this season.
