Emre Can has stated that Liverpool believe that they can win the Europa League this season following their emphatic 4-3 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Thursday.
The Red’s can book a place in next seasons UEFA Champions League if they manage to win the Europa League this season.
The 22-year-old admitted that there are strong teams left in the competition but, having defeated favourites Dortmund that anything is possible.
“We want to win that trophy,” Can told the Echo.
“There are still good teams left in it and the semi-final won’t be easy but we just have to keep believing in ourselves.
“Going through is a big achievement because Dortmund are such a good team. Everyone believed – that’s why we won the game – and now we need to continue like this.”
Unfortunately, can suffered a ankle injury late in the second half. According to the Echo, Can left Anfield last night on crutches and will have a scan today to find out the extent of the injury.
Can is ruled out for Liverpool’s clash with Bournemouth this weekend in the Premier League due to a suspended.
