Emre Can is expected to move into Liverpool’s midfield next season following the Red’s signing of Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton.

Liverpool completed the signing of the Southampton right-back for £12.5million today. The transfer should solve the Red’s boss Brendan Rodgers headache at right back last season. Johnson missed the majority of the season due to injury while Javier Manquillo, on loan from Atletico Madrid, failed to convince.

Can spent the closing weeks of the season at right back following a lengthy spell playing in a three back. The Germany u-21 international was signed as a central midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen last summer for £9.75 million.

Can recently revealed that he has spoken with Rodgers about his desire to play in midfield and that the Reds boss also wants to see him play in the teams centre.

“Of course, we talked about this. The manager has said he sees me as a midfielder, and that’s where I want to play in the near future,” Can told the Anfield Wrap.

Can made a total of 27 appearances for the Premier League outfit this season and also featured in the FA Cup and Europa League.
