Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard praised fellow teammate Emre Can following his recent run of impressive performances.

Gerrard likened Can to a Rolls Royce that has been playing at Liverpool for years.

“Emre Can has been like a Rolls Royce for us,” Gerrard said on ITV following the Europa League Round of 32 games against Beşiktaş

“He’s playing with so much confidence [and] looks like he has been here for years.”

Liverpool beat Beşiktaş 1-0 at Anfield in the Europa League Round of 32 first leg.

Can started against Beşiktaş at Anfield and made a total of two tackles, two interceptions and two blocks and was awarded a 6.67 rating by Whoscored.

The 21-year-old also completed 69 passes at an 87 percent accuracy but he did almost gift Demba Ba a chance on goal his back pass fell right into the path of the Senegalese international.

Can has made a total of one goal and one assist in 24 appearances this season.

Gerrard missed the game due to injury and is also a doubt for the return leg next Thursday at the Atatürk Olympic stadium.
