Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has been dropped for the past three Premier League games but could make his return against Basel.

The Reds need a win against the Swiss champions to progress to the Last 16.

Can has struggled for playing time since a strong performance against Chelsea a month ago.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is likely to start with Henderson Gerrard and Lallana in midfield but Can may get some playing time in the later stages of the game.

Rodgers believes Liverpool have enough quality in the squad to beat Basel at home.

“I think we’ve shown in the last number of weeks that we are starting to come together again after a disappointing spell,” Rodgers said.

“We haven’t had the consistency this season but slowly, game by game, I can see the differences in the team, in the focus and the concentration.

“And what we have in the squad is quality. We know it’s going to be a tough game but we’ve seen on many occasions what the crowd do here for the team.”
