Emre Can lavishes praise on Liverpool boss for positional change

Emre Can lavished praise on Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in a recent interview with the Echo for playing him in his desired position this season.

Can was deployed as a centre-back and a full-back last season under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers despite insisting that his preferred position was in central midfield.

Following the appointment of Klopp the Germany international of Turkish origin was moved into a central midfield role and has excelled.

Can said: “I think it’s my best season.

“I played a lot of games and I play in the position I want to play. I’m very happy that I play there now.”

Can has scored twice and provided three assists in 47 games for the Reds this season establishing himself as a key member of Klopp’s side.

The 22-year-old plays in midfield for Liverpool but remains a full-back for the Germany national side under the stewardship of Joachim Low.

Can has yet to win silverware at Liverpool but could win his first trophy if the Reds beat Villarreal in the Europa League final at the end of the month.
