Emre Can made highest number of interceptions in Liverpool loss against Southampton

Liverpool were defeated 3-2 against Southampton at St Mary’s despite taking a two-goal lead in the first half.

Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge scored in the opening 45 minutes in what looked like game set and match at the interval.

Whatever Saints boss Ronald Koeman said in the interval quite an impact as the team came out firing and managed to pull off a memorable comeback with a brace from Sadio Mane and a goal from Graziano Pelle.

Emre Can started for the Reds and was deployed as a a box-to-box midfielder. Despite the result Can was actually one of the better performers making 66 passes at an 88 percent accuracy and made the highest number of interceptions in midfield (3).

The 22-year-old worked hard in midfield both defensively and going forwards in fact only Lallana created more goal scoring opportunities (4) than Can (2) and making driving forward runs.

Can has two goals and two assists in 43 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season.
