Liverpool’s in-form star Emre Can has praised his sides mentality for their victory over Tottenham in the Premier League.

The Red’s beat Tottenham 3-2 during the week and Emre Can put in a ‘man of the match’ performance in defence.

It was very important because we were playing our nearest rival in the league in Tottenham, who we are now one point behind. It was an important goal,” Can told Liverpool FC’s official website.

“I’ve been involved in a lot of good games here, but the mentality of the team was brilliant. We believed in ourselves and then Mario scored the winner. I am happy for him personally – and it also helped the team a lot. It was great that we won the game.”

Can started the game in defence and was pushed further upfield into a midfield position in the second half following Spurs second equaliser from Dembele on 61 minutes.

The 21-year-old made a number of driving runs and completed two successful dribbles. Can did complete 42 passes but only managed a rather disappointing 73 percent accuracy.

Can made a total of one tackle, four interceptions and two clearances over the course of the game.

The Germany U21 international has made a total of one goal and one assist in 22 appearances this season.
