Emre Can & Samed Yesil feature in Liverpool U21 defeat to Porto

Liverpool star Emre Can and young striker Samed Yeşil both featured in the Reds 2-0 defeat against Porto yesterday.

Can and Yeşil both played in the first half of the encounter with the Portuguese giants.

Liverpool U21 manager Michael Beale was full of praise for Can following the game despite losing.

Beale told Liverpoolfc.com: “It was fantastic to have Philippe and Emre with us and they did really well in the planned 45 minute outing.” 

Can and Yeşil were both born in Germany and form part of the Turkish community in the country estimated to be in the region of 3-4 million.

Turks form the largest non-German ethnic minority in the country.

Can and Yeşil can represent either Turkey or Germany at senior international level due to their background.

The Turkish national side currently has several stars born in Germany such as Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Gökhan Töre and Ömer Toprak.
