Emre Can selected for Germany U21 European Championship squad

Liverpool midfielder-come-defender Emre Can has been called up for the Germany U21 squad ahead of the European Championships this summer.

Can has featured as a defender in Reds boss Brendan Rodgers back-three and as a right-back for most of the season.

The 21-year-old is expected to be used as a midfielder in the Germany side.

Can was born in Germany into a Turkish family as is eligible to represent both his country of birth and the Crescent-Stars at international level.

Fellow Turkish origin midfielder Yunnus Malli of Mainz and Kerem Demirbay has also been call up.
