Liverpool’s Emre Can is expected to start for Germany U21 against England U21 tonight at the Riverside stadium.

Can was left out of the Germany U21 side in their 2-2 draw against Italy U21. Germany came from behind twice draw against Italy in the international friendly. The 21-year-old was included in the match day squad but did not start or make an appearance.

Löw has been impressed with Can’s first season in the Premier League, intrigued at his effectiveness in a back three.

Germany U21 manager Hrubesch sees Can operating in central midfield for the under-21s, alongside the talented Schalke’s Max Meyer.

Stadium: The Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough
Date: Monday 30 March
Kick-off: 19:45 BST
