Liverpool midfielder-come-defender Emre Can received a mixed response for his performance at right-back in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea but he did manage to win the most tackles in the Premier League over the weekend.
Can won a total of seven tackles against the Blues, only West Brom central midfielder Claudio Yacob matched his tally according to Whoscored.
The Liverpool youngster also carried out the highest number of interceptions (4) in the Chelsea game.
Can also made 44 passes at a 90 percent accuracy and completed two key passes.
The 21-year-old was praised for his performances as a defender in Brendan Rodgers back-three but has come under fire since being played as a right-back.
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville stated: “He is not a right back Emre Can , he has proven this in the first 25 minutes of the game.”
Writing in his Echo column Liverpool legend John Aldridge said: “He looks good in defence, including at right-back even though it’s not natural to him.”
Despite being played out of position Can has done remarkably well and shown he has different facets to his game.
Can is however, expected to move into his preferred midfield role next season following the departure of Steven Gerrard.
