Euro Giants Boss Reveals Plan To Sign Liverpool Star, Talks Ongoing

Emre Can

Juventus chief Beppe Moratta has revealed his club’s plans to sign Liverpool star Emre Can for free in the summer.

Moratta revealed the reigning Serie A champions will do everything to sign the midfielder of Turkish origin as a free agent.

“For sure he is a great player and the fact that in June he can come for zero cost is a great opportunity for Juventus,” said Marotta, speaking to Sky, via La Gazetta dello Sport.

Moratta has accepted that Can will not be leaving Liverpool in January but that talks will continue over an end of season transfer.

“Still nothing, we have linked contacts that will intensify in the coming weeks, but I exclude that he arrives in January.

“He would certainly fit into our midfield and we will do everything to try and get him, but [Claudio] Marchisio remains a very important player for us”.

Naby Keita will join Liverpool from Red Bull Leipzig at the end of the season and has been tipped as a replacement for Can.

Keita’s arrival may not necessarily spell an end for Can at the Reds.

The Premier League giants remain in talks with the 24-year-old’s representatives over extending his deal.

The Germany international has not ruled out staying on at Liverpool beyond the end of the season and did recently deny a deal with Juventus that had been widely reported in the Italian media.

Jurgen Klopp has kept Can on as a first-team player despite uncertainty over his future.

The central midfielder is expected to keep his place in the side against Swansea City on Monday after an impressive display against Manchester City.

The Reds became the first team to beat the Citizens in the Premier League this season.
