Everton plan to replace void left by Lukaku joining Man United with £17.5m striker, Tottenham also in race

Everton are plotting a move for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun according to reports in Turkey.

Fotomac report that the Toffees are prepared to pay £17.5 million [€20m] for the Turkish international striker.

Per the source, Everton are planning to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku joining Manchester United over the summer.

The Premier League outfit have struggled for goals since the departure of Lukaku scoring just two goals this season.

The report claims Everton want Tosun in January over the winter transfer window.

Besiktas meanwhile are intent on keeping the 26-year-old at the club until at least next summer.

Club press officer Metin Albayrak confirmed offers from England but revealed that Tosun will stay until the end of the season.

“It is normal for there to be interest in Cenk,” Albayrak was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“There are Premier League clubs interested and we have received offers but we are not selling him in January.

“We will consider the offers at the end of the season.”

Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United have all been closely linked with the Turkish international [Turkish-Football].

Spurs sent scouts to keep tabs on Tosun in Besiktas’ opening Champions League clash against Porto.

Besiktas ended up becoming the first Turkish side to beat the Portuguese giants in European competition.

Tosun scored in the 3-1 victory and ended up winning UEFA goal of the week in the process.

The 26-year-old scored 24 times in all competitions for the Super Lig champions last season and has netted four goals in six games for the Black Eagles this term.
