Beşiktaş striker Demba Ba underlined that he was not impressed with the fans at the Atatürk Olympic stadium following the Europa League Last 16 second leg game against Club Brugge.

The Black Eagles ended up crashing out of the competition 5-2 on aggregate after suffering a surprise 3-1 defeat at home.

Ba revealed that the fans did not help the team get back into the game and that their booing only made things worse.

“I’m proud of my team-mates because we put in a good performance tonight. The fans should have supported us better when the tie was level at 1-1 – if they had done, maybe we would be in the last eight right now,” Ba was quoted as saying by Goal.

The Senegalese international thought Beşiktaş were the better side especially in the first half

“We believed in ourselves before the game and outplayed Brugge in first half,” he added.

Ba has a total of 24 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances in all competitions since joining from Chelsea in the summer.

The 29-year-old is the leading goalscorer – alongside Bursaspor forward Fernandao – in the league with 15 Süper Lig goals.

Ba is expected to start for Beşiktaş in the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on Sunday.

Süper Lig leaders Beşiktaş could move seven points clear of third placed Fenerbahçe with a win at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium.
