(Video) Ex Man Utd star Robin Van Persie scores first Fenerbahce goal with first shot on target

Fenerbahçe striker Robin van Persie scored his first goal for the Istanbul giants with his first shot on target in the 1-0 victory over Atromitos in the Europa League play-off round first leg game.

Van Persie came on as a second-half substitute replacing Moussa Sow for the last 10 minutes and it did not take him long to get on the scoresheet.

The Dutch star put the Yellow Canaries ahead on 87 minutes to give the away side an advantage going into the return leg in Turkey.

The second-leg will be played next week at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium – a draw would be enough for Fenerbahçe to progress to the group stages.

Van Persie joined Fenerbahçe on a £4.7 million move from Manchester United last summer becoming the second former Red Devil to join the club after Luis Nani – who joined just a week before the Netherlands international.

The Yellow Canaries take on Çaykur Rizespor next in the Süper Lig.
