Ex Man Utd stars expected to make Turkish league debut

Luis Nani and Robin Van Persie are both expected to make their Süper Lig debut against Eskişehirspor at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium on Friday 14 August.

Both players joined from Manchester United over the summer transfer window on three-year deals.

Van Persie was expected to miss the game with injury but has recovered in time to make the match-day team.

The 32-year-old striker is not however, expected to start but he is likely to play the last 30 minutes according to Eurosport Turkey.

Van Persie and Nani have both already made their official debut for the club during the Champions League preliminary play-off round against Shakhtar.

Fenerbahçe lost the tie 3-0 on aggregate and dropped into the Europa League play-off stages as a result.

Van Persie will have an extra fan in the stands on Friday. Louis Diamond, who became an internet sensation when a clip of the young United fan crying over the transfer of Van Persie was confirmed will be in the stands.

Club president Aziz Yıldırım invited the Diamond family to watch the opening game of the season. The family arrived in Turkey yesterday and will watch the match from Yıldırım’s box.
