Ex Man Utd striker Van Persie set to start for Fenerbahce after missing Europa League game

Van Persie

Fenerbahçe take on bitter rivals Trabzonspor at the Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium knowing that a victory will take them into first place in the Turkish Super League table.

The Yellow Canaries will be in high spirits after an impressive performance against Molde in the Europa League midweek.

Fenerbahçe head coach Vitor Pereira decided to rest Robin van Persie for much of the game meaning the Dutch star will be match fit and perhaps less tired than his teammates who did play.

Pereira has a full strength side to chose from other than the injured Caner Erkin and on-loan Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is also a doubt.

Trabzonspor meanwhile have performed below expectations this season and find themselves down in 9th place going into the clash.
