The latest in a seasons worth of Mesut Özil bashing unfolded on the weekend when former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry had a rant criticising how awful the 26-year-old was.
Fans however, obviously did not agree with Henry’s assessment and voted Özil the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month.
The six finalists for the month of April were Özil, Christian Benteke, Eden Hazard, Yannick Bolasie, Esteban Cambiasso and Ander Herrera.
The PFA award, powered by the football platform 90min, comes after a month which saw Özil play an important role in Arsenal reaching the FA Cup final and breaking into the Premier League top-three.
Özil scored and provided an assist in the 4-1 win over Liverpool and was praised for his performance against Chelsea last week.
The official Arsenal website have revealed that one fan voter will be selected to present the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award to Özil in May.
