Fenerbahce face race against time time ahead of Man United clash for star man recovery

Jeremain Lens knows all about Manchester United from his time playing for Sunderland last season. Dick Advocaat was responsible for bringing the Dutch winger to the Premier League and he was instrumental in his transfer to Fenerbahce over the summer.

Lens has hit the ground running at his new club scoring six times and providing four assists in what has otherwise being a rather disappointing start to the season for the Istanbul giants.

Fenerbahce could however, be without their star man going into the Europa League clash against Manchester United on 20 October.

The Yellow Canaries have had rotten luck in the injury department over the past few weeks. Turkish international midfielder Ozan Tufan has been ruled out for two months and Gregory Van der Wiel, Hasan Ali Kaldırım and Fernandao are still recovering from injury.

Lens has spent the international break rehabilitating his hamstring strain but a source close to the club revealed that he will definitely miss the league clash against Alanyaspor on the weekend. The 27-year-old faces a race against time to regain full match fitness before the United clash and it is currently too early to tell whether he will be able to make the trip to Manchester.

The Yellow Canaries are currently first in the Europa League Group A on four points while United and Feyenoord are both on three points and Ukrainian outfit Zorya are last having picked up just a single point from their first two games.
