Fenerbahce in pole position to sign Chelsea midfielder Mikel after agent denies Al Ain deal

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel will not be joining UAE side Al Ain according to football agent John Shittu.

The agent did however, confirm receiving an offer from UAE club Al Wahda.

‘Mikel didn’t travel to Dubai to discuss with Al Ain, he went there on holiday with his girlfriend,” Mikel’s adviser told Nigerian based news24.

”I read so many stories that he is joining Al Ain but it’s not true. He has so many offers from clubs including UAE club Al-Wahda.”

Fenerbahçe are set to make a bid for Mikel according to HaberTürk sports chief Faik Çetiner.

Fenerbahçe sporting director Giuliano Terraneo is reported to be in London to hold talks with a series of agents including Mikel’s representative.

Mikel joined Chelsea in 2006, has made 339 appearances for the Blues winning the league, FA Cup and Champions League titles.

Fenerbahçe finished last season as runners up and booked a place in the Champions League play-off stages. The Yellow Canaries will compete in Europe for the first time in two years after serving their UEFA ban.

The Istanbul giants are currently coached by Portuguese manger Vitor Pereira.
