Fenerbahce make move for £9m Sunderland flop

Jeremain Lens

Fenerbahce have made an enquiry regarding the availably of Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri according to Turkish sports newspaper Fotomac.

Per the source, the Yellow Canaries want Khazri on a 1.5 year loan.

Khazri joined the Black Cats on a £9 million move and was a favourite under former manager Sam Allardyce. The Tunisian international has however, found playing time difficult to come by under the stewardship of current head coach David Moyes.

The 25-year-old has made just 11 appearances this season failing to score a single goal and has provided just one assist.

Fenerbahce have already established communication channels with Sunderland following their loan deal with Jeremain Lens and will be hoping to reach a similar agreement over Khazri.

The Istanbul giants are in the market for a winger and a number 10 – Khazri is able to play in both roles which would make him an ideal fix until the summer.

Khazri is currently on international duty at the African Cup of Nations with Tunisia.

Lens has hit the ground running at Fenerbahce and has been arguably one of the players of the season. The Dutch international winger already has three goals and eight assists in all competitions for the Yellow Canaries this season.
