Fenerbahce step up efforts to sign Man Utd star

Fenerbahce have stepped up efforts to sign Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata according to Haberturk.

The Turkish newspaper claim that the Yellow Canaries have been monitoring his situation at United and are preparing a move should Jose Mourinho decide he has no plans for Mata next season.

Fenerbahce have been closely linked with Mata over the past few weeks and are in pursuit of an attacking midfielder after parting ways with Luis Nani and Diego Ribas.

The Yellow Canaries could however, face competition from Everton who are currently the bookmakers favourites to sign the Spanish international.

The Daily Mail report that Everton are also preparing a bid for the 29-year-old and that head coach Ronald Koeman is keen on signing the Spanish international.

Everton are currently favourites but Fenerbahce would be able to offer Mata Champions League football and the prospect of a title challenge next season if he were to join the Istanbul giants.
