Fenerbahce strike deal with Liverpool over Martin Skrtel – sources

Fenerbahce have reached a deal with Liverpool over the transfer of Martin Skrtel a source close to the Yellow Canaries told Turkish-football.com.

Skrtel’s agent Karol Csonto told us that the Slovakian international also had interest Besiktas and Roma but that Fenerbahce made the most attractive offer.

The agent also revealed that talks had been ongoing for nearly a month before a deal was struck.

“Besiktas and Roma were also in talks but Fenerbahce made the best offer and have been in negotiations for 2-3 weeks,” he said.

Fenerbahce have disclosed confirmation of talks with Liverpool over Skrtel on the Istanbul stock exchange.

Turkish clubs listed on the stock exchange are legally obliged to disclose transfer dealings before announcing the actual transfer.

Usually the statements are little more than a formality before the club actually announced confirmation of the actual transfer.

Srktel is expected to complete his move to Fenerbahce over the next few days and will join Schalke 04 defender Roman Neustadter and PSG’s Gregory van der Wiel who joined last week.
