Former Arsenal Star Eboue Offered Christmas Day Coaching Role After Near Suicide Revelations

Emmanuel Eboue has been offered a coaching role at former club Galatasaray after head Fatih Terim read about his tragic meltdown that almost led to suicide.

A source close to Galatasaray revealed to Turkish-Football that they have offered him an assistant coach role in their U-14 team.

Eboue will be given the role once he has his coaching badge. The offer coincidently fell on Christmas Day.

Eboue told the Daily Mirror how he lost everything after divorcing his wife, and how it nearly led him to taking his own life.

The Ivorian revealed he lost a bitter divorce battle, with his wife Aurelie being awarded all of their assets.

Eboue then faced estrangement from his three kids and has been grieving after the cancer death of grandfather Amadou Bertin – who raised him – and the loss of his brother N’Dri Serge, killed in a motorbike accident.

Current Galatasaray coach Terim spoke to reporters after the 3-1 win over Goztepe on 24 December: “I heard about what happened to Eboue in the dressing room, it broke my heart. We will do whatever is in our power to help our friend.”

Eboue responded by saying: “I would be very happy if coach [Hoca] Fatih gave me a role at Galatasaray, Fatih Terim is like a father to me, I love him very much, I would do everything for him because I love him very much.”

Galatasaray fans launched a social media campaign for Eboue under the hashtag ‘Eboue Yalniz Degildır’ which translates to Eboue you are not alone.

Lions legends Hasan Şaş and Necati Ateş also shared messages in support of the 34-year-old in addition to several leading influential members in the community.

Sas shared an Instagram post alongside the caption: “You haven’t forgotten you Eboue, we will do everything to help.”
