Former Barcelona star Ronaldinho to arrive in Turkey on Thursday

The former world player of the year Ronaldinho is expected to arrive in Turkey on Thursday to discuss terms with Antalyaspor.

“We want to sign him [Ronaldinho] for the opening of our new stadium,” Antalyaspor President Gültekin Gencer was quoted as saying by EurosportTR.

“We are doing everything we can to to make this transfer happen.”

Ronaldinho currently plays for the Mexican side Querétaro. Queretaro manager Victor Manuel Vucetich stated that the Mexican side is planning to offload former Barcelona man.

34-year-old has endured a turbulent season and has recently lost his place in the starting line-up.

Antalyaspor have been promoted to the Süper Lig after beating Samsunspor 4-1 on penalties in the PTT 1. Lig play-off final.

The Antalya based side will join Osmanlıspor and Kayserispor in the top flight next season.

The Scorpions were relegated from the Süper Lig in the 2012-13 season and have returned after just a single league campaign in Turkey’s second division.
