'Fully charged' Arsenal star could make shock return for Liverpool clash

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil has hinted that he may be ready for selection in time for Arsenal’s 2016-17 Premier League season opener against Liverpool.

The 27-year-old has been on an extended summer break after leading Germany to the Semi-Finals of Euro 2016 where they were defeated by the hosts France. Ozil recorded one assist and one goal during the tournament.

Ozil took to social media to state that he is “Finally back in training with fully charged batteries!”

Ozil is the favourite to once again be the Premier Leagues assist king. According to the Evening Standard, the bookmakers have set Ozil’s odds to be crowned assist king at 2/1.

Ozil recorded an incredible 19 assists for the Gunners last season, just one off matching Thierry Henry’s record of 20. However, Ozil should have racked up a couple more seeing that he created an astonishing 144 chances for his Arsenal teammates.

The Gunners host Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday, kick-off is at 16:00 (GMT).
