Galatasaray were held to a 2-2 draw against rivals Fenerbahce at the Turk Telekom Arena in the Super Lig on Friday.

Reigning Super Lig champions Galatasaray took the lead in the first-half when Ryan Donk dinked the ball over Fenerbahce Harun Tekin.

The Lions looked to have wrapped up all three points when Martin Linnes scored a stunning goal from range soon after the half-time break.

Fenerbahce managed to claw their way back into the game after referee Aydin awarded a penalty with the assistance of VAR.

Valbuena converted from the spot kick and then Jailson scored with an outstanding shot from outside of the penalty area.

The match was relatively well tempered for such a heated occasion but it all boiled over after the final whistle.

A brawl broke out between the opposing teams resulting in Jailson and Soldado getting sent off for Fenerbahce and Stoke City loanee Badou Ndiaye receiving a red card for Galatasaray. Additionally, Younes Belhanda was booked and will be suspended for the next game.

As enthralling as the game was the main talking point afterward was Fenerbahce fan Koray Sener who was taken to hospital shortly before the game with a heart problem.

Sener passed away while the derby was being played.

Fenerbahce supporters left the away stand to make their way to the hospital and pay their respects to the young fan early in the second-half.
