Galatasaray board member Cüneyt Tanman has confirmed making an enquiry for Manchester United striker Robin van Persie but denied an offer being submitted.

“We have made enquiries and established contact but an offer has not been made for the names mentioned [Van Persie and Huntelaar],” Tanman was quoted as saying by Fanatik.

The United striker has been closely linked with a move to Galatasaray and Tanman was reported to have travelled to England to hold talks with Van Perise’s agent last week.

Van Persie stated that his future depends on what United have planned for him next season.

The 31-year-old striker wants regular first-team football and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the summer.

“Things could change but that all depends on Manchester United, not me,” Van Persie told the Metro.

Galatasaray could face competition from bitter rivals Fenerbahçe who are also reported to be targeting the Red Devils star.

The Lions finished the league season as champions and also lifted the Turkish Cup for their sixth double.

The Istanbul giants have also secured a place in the Champions League group stages next season.
