Galatasaray hold talks with Liverpool target Maxi Perreira

Galatasaray have entered talks with Benfica right-back Maxi Perreira according to Fanatik.

The Lions have been keeping close tabs on the Uruguayan international over the past season and were reported to have made an enquiry in January.

Former Arsenal full-back Emmanuel Eboue will be leaving in the summer and the board are reported to be unhappy with current right-backs Sabri Sarıoğlu and Tarık Çamdal.

The Istanbul giants will invest in a right-back over the summer having won the Süper Lig and qualified directly to the Champions League group stages.

Fellow Süper Lig outfit Beşiktaş have also been closely linked with the experienced fullback.

Beşiktaş vice-president Ahmet Nur Çebi revealed in January that they are interested in the Uruguayan international.

“Our first choice is Maxi Pereira,” Çebi was quoted as saying on Eurosport Turkey.

“However, there are a lot of clubs interested in him.”

Galatasaray and Beşiktaş could face competition from Liverpool who also wish to strengthen their fullback positions according to the Daily Express.

Pereira will be available on a free contract as his current deal with Benfica has run out.
