Galatasaray have joined West Ham United in the race to sign the Norwegian international defensive midfielder Havard Nordtveit.

According to LigTV, Galatasaray have established contact with the 25-year-old and will table an offer shortly.

Nordtveit is free to discuss terms with other clubs as his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expires at the end of the season.

Monchengladbach are already prepared for Nordtveit’s departure by signing Strobl on a free transfer from Hoffenheim as a replacement.

The Standard claim that West Ham have expressed an interest in signing the Norwegian international.

“I’m just 25 years old and I now have the chance to take my career in a new direction and start a new adventure,” Nordtveit told the club website.

“It hurts to leave Gladbach but it’s not a decision against Borussia, but rather for something new.

“I’d like to leave it to my new team to announce, which we’ve agreed with regards to the current situation. I can say, however, that I’m going back to England.

“I was there as a youngster, playing for Arsenal when I was 17, but I never made an appearance in the Premier League. England is the big goal for every footballer in Norway and I’d like to try it out.”

Nordtveit has one assist and four goals in 32 appearances for Gladbach this season.
