Galatasaray presidential candidate Dursun Özbek has stated that he will offer Wesley Sneijder a contract extension if he is elected.
The Istanbul Giants will elect a new president at the end of the season once Duygun Yarsuvat’s one-year reign comes to an end.
“We must keep the skeleton of the team intact,” Dursun Özbek told the Turkish newspaper Sabah.
The report goes onto state that Özbek will look to extend Sneijder’s contract by two years until 2018.
Southhampton were interested in signing Sneijder during the winter transfer window.
The Netherlands international joined Galatasaray from Inter in January 2013 and has a total of 32 goals and 14 assists in 94 games for the Lions.
Sneijder has 11 goals and four assists in all competitions for the Istanbul giants this season.
Galatasaray are currently first in the Süper Lig, two points clear of second places Fenerbahçe and three points clear of third placed Beşiktaş.
