Galatasaray to offer Flamengo target Felipe Melo a two year contract extension

Galatasaray presidential candidate Dursun Özbek has stated that he will offer Felipe Melo a contract extension at the end of the season.

The Istanbul Giants will elect a new president at the end of the season after Duygun Yarsuvat’s one-year reign comes to an end.

“We must keep the skeleton of the team intact,” Dursun Özbek told the Turkish newspaper Sabah.

Melo has been linked with a move to Brazilian giants Flamengo according to Eurosport TR.

The 31-year-old joined the Istanbul giants on a permanent deal from Juventus worth £3 million last summer after playing the previous two seasons on loan at the Lions.

Melo has lifted the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup since moving to Turkey.

The Brazilian international missed the Trabzonspor derby two weeks ago and was also sidelined for the clashes against Gaizantepspor and Akhisar Belediyespor.
