Baxter will be replacing Mesut Bakkal who guided the Ankara based side to a ninth placed finish in the Süper Lig last season.

Bakkal replaced Irfan Buz who was fired from his job this morning following Gençlerbirliği’s 2-1 defeat to Eskisehirspor in February.

The experienced Turkish manager previously managed Konyaspor, Karabukspor, Samsunspor, Ankaragucu, Sivasspor, Manisasor, Denizlispor and Gaziantepspor.

Despite a strong finish to the season Bakkal resigned from his position. Baxter will become the fourth manager for the Ankara based side within the space of a year.

Mustafa Kaplan was manager at the start of last season but was replaced by Buz in September.

The 61-year-old manager ended his three-year relationship with Amakhosi last week Tuesday.

Baxter won four major trophies with Amakhosi including two Absa Premiership titles between 2013 and 2015.
