Germany take on Australia in their opening Confederations Cup clash in Russia today.

Australia will be expected to put up more of a fight and have only lost once in their last nine games.

Three players of Turkish origin could feature in the clash.

Liverpool star midfielder Emre Can is almost certain to start for Germany in central midfield.

Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay is likely to make the bench for Germany.

Meanwhile Bursaspor full-back Aziz Behich could start for Australia.

Germany may be favourites on paper but Low has named an unexperienced squad and they have never actually won the tournament before.

Australia will be without captain Mile Jedinak through injury which could prove to be a big blow but they will have plenty of experience with veteran Tim Cahill available.

Chile are currently first in Group B after beating Cameroon 2-0.

Meanwhile, Russia top Group A after beating New Zealand 2-0. Euro 2016 champions Portugal were held to a 1-1 draw against Mexico in the other group game.
