Hamzaoğlu slams playing surface at Gençlerbirliği stadium [divider]
Hamza Hamzaoğlu criticised the playing surface at the 19 Mayis Ankara stadium following the 1-1 draw against Gençlerbirliği.
“We played against a good side on a terrible surface,” Hamzaoğlu said.
“The game was all about who wanted it the most, it is hard to play a passing game on that kind of pitch, the ball does not roll properly.
“We could not play our game, actually we were in charge and the dominant side for much of the match but we conceded such a soft goal.
“Afterwards both sides squandered many chances.
“Now we have to look forward, we are playing Beşiktaş in the derby next week, we must forget about this game and prepare for the derby.”
The draw put an end to Galatasaray’s four game win streak. The Lions remain in second place on 32 points alongside Beşiktaş who are currently ahead on goal difference.
Beşiktaş do however, have a game in hand and will move two points ahead with a win against Konyaspor.
