Hannover have named Michael Frontzeck as their coach for the final five games of the season according to ESPN.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach and Stuttgart defender has appointed former United States international Steven Cherundolo as his assistant.
Frontzeck last coached in the Bundesliga in 2011 when he was sacked by Gladbach after a dismal run.
The coach has the worst point average of 103 coaches to have managed 100 Bundesliga games or more.
Korkut was appointed manager in January 2014 and helped the side to avoid relegation last season.
Hannover are back in a relegation battle, just two points above the bottom three in 15th place.
The young coach became the first Turkish international to take over a Bundesliga club when he was appointed Hannover manager last season.
It was the first senior coaching job for the former Fenerbahçe midfielder who previously worked as a youth team coach at Real Sociedad, Hoffenheim and VfB Stuttgart.
