How Chelsea target Emenike went from making $50 to $250K per-month  [divider]

Fenerbahçe striker went from earning $50 per-month in South Africa to $250,000 per-month at Fenerbahçe revealed former Karabükspor president Hikmet Ferudun Tankut.

“I remember he came to Ankara with this agent, they went for trials at four clubs but nobody was interested,” Tankut said.

“After failing to impress any of the Süper Lig clubs they tried Bank Asya.

“Cem Onuk from Gençlerbirliği called me and said I have a player here who isn’t ready for the Süper Lig yet but could be worth trying in the Bank Asya league, come and have a look if you are interested. 

“We were impressed and signed him, he trained with the youth team for four days and we agreed a deal right away.

“We agreed a contract worth $25,000 per-season, at a time when his teammate Burak Akdiş was making $150,000 per-season.

“Emenike was making $50 a month playing for Cape Town in South Africa. 

“He told me that he saw Karabükspor as a stepping stone in his career, that he would make it to the top and that his goal was to play for Chelsea.”

Emenike joined Fenerbahçe last summer from Spartak Moscow for $16 million, and scored 13 goals as well as providing 9 assists last season.

The 27-year-old striker had and impressive World Cup and helped Nigeria reach the Round of 16.

The Nigerian international striker also had an excellent season at Fenerbahce, winning the league title and scoring 13 goals as well as providing nine assists.

Chelsea were linked with a $24 million move for Emenike this summer. Tottenham, Arsenal and Everton are also reported to be keeping tabs on the powerful striker.

Emenike has two goals and one assist in five appearances for the Yellow Canaries this season.
