Hull City face competition from Monaco & Marseille to sign Dutch full-back

Hull City will launch another attempt to sign Fenerbahce full-back Gregory van der Wiel according to Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik.

Per the source, Hull City remain interested in the 29-year-old after failing to sign him in January.

The transfer could cost the Tigers €5 million but they may end up facing competition from Ligue 1 giants Monaco and Marseille as well as Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.

The Dutch star joined Fenerbahce from PSG over the summer amid high expectations but failed to settle in.

Van der Wiel fell out of favour with Fenerbahce manager Dick Advocaat but has been reintroduced to the team over recent weeks.

The Netherlands international has played 90 minutes in the Istanbul giants last two league games against Konyaspor and Karabukspor.

The full-back does have another three-years remaining on his current contract but Fenerbahce are keen to sell Van der Wiel in a bid to free up the wage bill.

The experienced defensive player earned €2.2 million per-season.
