Hull City in talks with Fenerbahce full-back Van der Wiel

Hull City have made an offer for Fenerbahce full-back Gregory van der Wiel a source close to the player told Turkish-Football.com.

The Tigers have been keeping close tabs on the Netherlands international and had initially made a loan offer but Fenerbahce underlined that they will only let the out of favour full-back leave on a permanent deal.

Hull City have revised their offer and are currently in talks with Fenerbahce and the player.

Should an agreement be struck with the full-back he will join Hull before the end of the transfer window.

Fenerbahce have transfer listed Van der Wiel and given him the green light to leave.

Van der Wiel’s agent Mino Raiola is leading the talks which have reached an advanced stage.

The Dutch full-back has also attracted interest from the Middle East but is keen on a move to the Premier League.

Van der Wiel has not played in the Premier League before but he does have experience playing for French giants PSG.

The 28-year-old was signed by Fenerbahce over the summer from PSG and despite a bright start he struggled to lock down a regular first team spot under the stewardship of Dick Advocaat.

The experienced full-back fell out of favour with Advocaat after returning to training late.

The Dutch international accompanied his girlfriend Rose Bertram to a photo shoot in Geneva, Switzerland but extended his stay without permission.

Van der Wiel has provided one assist in 12 appearances for Fenerbahce this season but has not played since the end of November.

Fenerbahce are keen on Van der Wiel leaving as Advocaat has no plans for him going forwards and it would free up the wage bill.

The Yellow Canaries are currently fourth in the Super Lig, five points behind league leaders Besiktas.
