Hull City transfer news: Latest on Samuel Eto’o transfer situation

Hull City have been closely linked with former Barcelona star Samuel Eto’o over the past few days.

Hull boss Mike Phelan responded to the transfer rumours following his sides 3-1 loss to West Brom.

Phelan admitted that it would be an ‘unbelievable challenge’ if Eto’o were to join the Tigers over the winger transfer window.

“I haven’t heard anything, but it would be an unbelievable challenge if Samuel Eto’o wanted to come to Hull City,” Phelan was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

“But that’s the least of my worries. We have to look to improve in certain situations. Every position at this moment is up for grabs.”

The Antalyaspor striker will however, not be joining Hull over the winter break.

A source close to the club told Turkish-football that they were unaware of an offer from Hull City for Eto’o and that he will be remaining at the Super Lig outfit.

The experienced striker has also been targeted by reigning Turkish league champions Besiktas.

Eto’o still has another year remaining on his current contract and has five goals and two assists in 13 appearances for the Scorpions in the league this season.

The 35-year-old has a wealth of experience across Europa including the Premier League where he has played for Everton and Chelsea in the past.
