“I am expecting United to score” – Ex Liverpool star makes prediction for Reds clash with Man United this weekend

Mark Lawrenson has revealed his prediction for Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United this weekend.

The high-profile encounter takes place at Anfield on Saturday while kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (GMT).

Liverpool come into tomorrow’s clash following a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United. The Reds have won just one game out of their last seven and sit in seventh place with 12 points.

Man United meanwhile are unbeaten in their last ten games and have won their last six games in a row.

Lawro believes the encounter with be tight as is predicting a 1-1 result.

“It is always a huge occasion and it is probably the type of fixture Liverpool need right now just to fire them up,” Lawrenson told the BBC.

“Since they beat Arsenal 4-0 at the end of August, there has not been a game in which Jurgen Klopp’s side have played well for the entire 90 minutes.

“Consequently they have dropped points because they have made defensive lapses after not putting games to bed.

“Liverpool have conceded an average of just under two goals a game in the league this season, so I am expecting United to score, especially with the form they are in.”

Man United currently sit joint top of the Premier League and know they can finish the week ahead of their rivals Man City, if Pep Guardiola’s side drop points against Stoke.

Mourinho will however be unable to call upon Paul Pogba due to a hamstring injury while Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick are also ruled out.

Jurgen Kopp also suffered a huge blow earlier this week with the injury to star winger Sadio Mane.
