‘I want to play in the English Premier League’ says Christian Atsu

Chelsea’s Christian Atsu has dismissed reports linking him with a move to Turkey.

The Ghana international is currently on a season-long loan with Newcastle United.

Atsu was linked – by his agent (Fanatik) – with a move to Basaksehir. However, sources close to the club have revealed to Turkish-Football that they had no contact with Atsu’s representatives nor were they interested in the winger.

Basaksehir executive director Mustafa Erogut, confirmed to Turkish-Football that no offer was made. The story turned out to have been nothing more than a January transfer rumour.

Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, Atsu reaffirmed his commitment to the Magpies.

“Why would I go to play in Turkey when I want to play in the English Premier League? I want to settle down,” Atsu told the Newcastle Chronicle.

“I heard the rumours, but I wasn’t interested in them. I wasn’t focused on that because I knew I wouldn’t be going to play in Turkey.

“I am very happy at this club. Newcastle is a great club with a good coach, good lads and fantastic fans. I am very happy at Newcastle.”

Atsu has three goals in 16 apperances for Newcastle this season. Newcastle United sit at the top of the Championship with 65 points after 30 games.

The 25-year-old is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea since joining from Porto back in 2013.
