‘I won’t sell him to Leicester City’ – Arsenal receive transfer boost for Turkish international target

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has revealed that he will only sell Oguzhan Ozyakup to a club ‘of the highest level’.

Orman underlined that he would not let a club like Leicester City sign the Turkish international midfielder.

“We will sell players if we receive the right offers,” Orman was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“We have not received the right offer yet for Oguzhan and as I have said before he will only join a club of the highest level club.

“I would not for example sell him to Leicester City.

“I want him to play at the highest level.”

The comments will probably not go down well with Leicester fans but will serve as a transfer boost for other clubs interested in Ozyakup.

Goal recently reported that Arsenal Wenger is keen on bringing Ozyakup back to Arsenal after five years away from the club.

Ozyakup rose through the ranks at Arsenal winning the 2009 Youth FA Cup before joining Besiktas in 2012.

The 24-year-old was part of the Arsenal class of 92 which included Jack Wilshere.

The central midfielder has another 12 months remaining on his contract and has yet to extend his deal.

Ozyakup did drop a massive hint that he wants to leave Besiktas over the summer.

“I have achieved all my goals at Besiktas, I want a challenge in Europe, that is my next step as I have always said,” Ozyakup was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football after the game.

“We won the title, we will wear the third star, right now my plan is to celebrate this history success.

“I am happy at the club but I also have plans to play in Europe.

“I will have a long think over my holidays.”

The Netherlands born Turkish international has played a key role in the Black Eagles winning the league title over the past two seasons.
