Emre Can has stated that Germany U21’s were outclassed by Portugal U21’s side. The German’s were defeated by a 5-0 scoreline in the semi finals of the competition.

Despite their 5-0 defeat, Germany have secured qualification for the Olympic Games for the first time since 1988.

Can played in his preferred central midfield role during the U21 European Championship’s and was given a licence to roam forward into attacking positions.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man received a rating of 5.96 for his performance on the night. The Germany U21 international managed to make three tackles, two interception and no clearances.

The 21-year-old scored in his sides opening game and set up a goal in the second. Can is expected to play in midfield next season following the departure of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.
