“It’s time to recharge” – £20m Man City signing nearing first-team return after 9 months out
Manchester City midfield playmaker Ilkay Gundogan is nearing a return to the first-team.
The 26-year-old has been sidelined for nine months after suffering a knee injury back in December.
Gundogan re-joined his teammates for first-team training during the pre-season tour of the USA. The Germany international also played in City’s friendly against Girona earlier this month.
Man City take on Liverpool in the Premier League next weekend however, Gundogan is unlikely to be included in the starting lineup.

The star midfielder shared a photo of himself on social media and included the following caption, “I’ve trained hard over the last months and get closer to being back in the team fully. Now it’s time to recharge my batteries to be prepared for the upcoming weeks.”
