“It’s a blatant red card. He’s bang out of order,” Redknapp was quoted as saying by the Express.

“He’s put his studs in and it’s a certain red card.

“The referee is trying to look around him (Henderson) and he can’t quite see it.”

Liverpool lost the League Cup semi-final second leg against Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea qualified for the Capital One Cup final place at Wembley following the win and will face either Tottenham or Sheffield United who face each other in the other semi-final game.

Costa stood on Can’s foot in the first half but referee Michael Oliver failed to spot the incident as his view was blocked by Reds midfielder Jordan Henderson.

Can started in defence again against the Blues but played a more attacking role towards the end of the game.

The 21-year-old has played the last nine games in defence despite his strongest position being in central midfield.

The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has made 18 appearances for the Reds in all competitions this season.
