The former Norwegian international striker Jan Aage Fjortoft has tipped Emre Can to play for the German national team.

The football pundit previously criticised Liverpool’s decision to sign Can from Bayer Leverkusen for £10 million.

“I don’t think he is a good signing, I think he’s an average player in Germany,” Fjortoft told the Express.

“I can’t see that he will improve Liverpool Football Club.”

However, Fjortoft had a change of heart yesterday when the tweeted, “Based on what I saw in Germany. Didn’t think Can would do well. Based on what I’ve seen of him in England. Could play for Germany soon.”
