John Aldridge: Liverpool's Emre Can can become a 'big player in world football'

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has tipped Emre Can to go on to become a ‘ a really big player in world football.’

Emre Can has impressed since joining Liverpool rom Bayer Leverkusen on a £9.75 million move in the summer. The 21-year-old has surprisingly  played most of the season as a defender in Reds boss Brendan Rodgers back-three despite being signed as a midfielder.

“He’s only 21 and could be a diamond.

“Personally I think he could go on and become a really big player in world football.”

Emre Can was Liverpool’s highest performer on Saturday afternoon when the Reds suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace.

Can received a rating of 7.53 according to Whoscored – the highest score on the Liverpool team. The 21-year-old made eight tackles, one interception and four clearances. Can’s eight tackles was the more than any other Premier League player over the weekend.

Can is expected to make his 30th appearance of the season against Stoke City this weekend.
