Jurgen Klopp rejects link with Man Utd target Ilkay Gündoğan

Liverpool’s newly appointed manager Jurgen Klopp has played down reports linking Ilkay Gündoğan with a move to Anfield.

The Germany international was reported to be high up on Liverpool’s list of potential transfers however, the Klopp stated that he would no be looking to bring any of his former players to the Premier League.

‘I have no intention whatsoever to lure Dortmund’s stars to Liverpool,’ Klopp was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

Klopp won two Bundesliga titles and finished the 2012-13 Champions League as runners-up during his time in charge of Dortmund. Klopp has been appointed as the Liverpool manager on a three-year contract in place of Brendan Rodgers.

Gündoğan joined Liverpool star Emre Can in the Germany national team camp for their Euro 2016 qualifiers against Ireland and Georgia.

Can, Gündoğan and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil make up the three Germany international players of Turkish origin.
